Bulk deleting listings from the closet and finding/removing duplicates

Delist & Deduplication Guide

Welcome to the Delist & Deduplication feature! This tool helps you clean up your Poshmark closet by removing unwanted listings and finding duplicate items automatically.

What Does This Feature Do?

The Delist & Deduplication feature helps you:

  • Find and remove duplicate listings - Automatically scan your closet to find items that are listed multiple times
  • Bulk delete unwanted items - Select multiple items from your closet and delete them all at once
  • Manage listings safely - Instead of deleting, you can mark items as "Not For Sale" or raise their prices
  • Export your data - Save a list of your duplicate items to a CSV file for your records

Head to the ACTIONS tab to see and use the Delist & Deduplication.

This feature saves you hours of manual work by automating the tedious task of finding and managing duplicate or unwanted listings.

How to Use This Feature

Step 1: Choose Where to Delete From

You have two options for selecting items to manage:

This option automatically scans your entire closet to find duplicate listings.

How it works:

  1. Click the "Find Duplications" radio button
  2. Click the "Find Duplicates" button
  3. Wait while the system scans your closet (this may take a moment)
  4. Review the duplicate groups that are found

The system finds duplicates by matching all these criteria:

  • Title - Items with the same titles
  • Brand - Items from the same brand
  • Category - Items in the same category
  • Description - Items in the same category
  • Size - Items in the same size

When to use this: Perfect for regular closet maintenance to find and remove duplicate listings you may have accidentally created.

Option B: Selected Items from Closet

This option lets you manually select specific items from your Poshmark closet page.

How it works:

  1. Open your Poshmark closet page
  2. Select the items you want to manage (by clicking on them). How to select items from closet, check it here.
  3. Return to the PosherVA extension Popup window.
  4. Click the "Selected Items from Closet" radio button
  5. You'll see a green badge showing how many items are selected (e.g., "✓ 5 items selected")

When to use this: Great when you know exactly which items you want to delete or manage, without needing to search for duplicates.

Step 2: Review Your Duplicate Groups (If Using "Find Duplications")

When you use the "Find Duplications" option, you'll see your results organized into groups:

We suggest reviewing all items to make sure that they're correct.

Understanding Duplicate Groups

Each duplicate group shows:

  • Group number - Example: "Duplicate Group 1"
  • Item count - How many duplicates were found (e.g., "3 items")

Reviewing Individual Items

Within each group, you'll see each duplicate item with details:

  • Item number - #1, #2, #3, etc.
  • Listed date - When the item was first posted (e.g., "Oct 15")
  • Age - How many days the item has been listed (e.g., "45d")
  • Likes - Number of likes the item has received
  • Price - Current listing price
  • Badges - "Oldest" and "Newest" badges to help you decide which to keep. We suggest keeping "Newest" and choosing the oldest to remove.

You could open each item to see the full details.

Selecting Items to Delete

Important Tips:

  • Check the box next to each item you want to delete
  • The oldest item is shown first, the newest is shown last
  • Keep at least one item - If you select all items in a group, you'll see a warning: "WARNING: All items selected!" This will delete the entire listing from your closet
  • You'll see a selection count at the bottom (e.g., "5 items selected")

Best Practice: Keep your newest listing (the one with the "Newest" badge) since it has better visibility in search results.

Step 3: Choose What to Do with Your Items

Once you've selected items, choose an action:

1. Delete (Permanent Removal)

What it does: Permanently removes the selected items from your Poshmark closet.

When to use: When you want to completely remove duplicate or unwanted listings.

Important Warning:

Please keep in mind to be careful with how many items you are going to remove that are younger than 60 days. Poshmark has policies against excessive removal of recent listings. If you remove too many items that are less than 60 days old, your account could face restrictions. Consider using "Mark as Not For Sale" instead for younger items. More details about Excessive Listing Removal Policy here.

2. Mark as Not For Sale

What it does: Keeps the items in your closet but marks them as unavailable for purchase.

When to use:

  • When you want to temporarily hide items without deleting them
  • When items are less than 60 days old and you want to avoid Poshmark's removal policy
  • When you might want to relist these items later

Benefits: This is a safer alternative to deletion, especially for newer listings.

3. Raise Price 2X

What it does: Doubles the current price of each selected item.

When to use:

  • When you want to keep listings active but make them less likely to sell
  • As an alternative to marking items "Not For Sale"
  • When you want to test higher price points

Example: An item priced at $25 will become $50.

4. Export to CSV File

What it does: Downloads a spreadsheet file (CSV) with details about your selected items.

What's included in the file:

  • Title
  • Listed Date
  • Days Listed
  • Direct URL to the listing

When to use:

  • When you want to keep records of your duplicate items
  • Before deleting items, to have a backup
  • For your own inventory tracking

How it works: Click the button, and a file will automatically download to your computer (usually in your Downloads folder). You can open this file in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet program.

Step 4: Start the Process

  1. After selecting your items and choosing an action, click the appropriate button:

  • "Start Deletion" - If you chose Delete
  • "Mark as Not For Sale" - If you chose that option
  • "Raise Price 2X" - If you chose that option
  • "Export to CSV" - If you chose that option

  1. You'll see a progress bar showing:

  • Overall progress (e.g., "15 / 20")
  • Percentage complete
  • Failed or skipped items (if any)

  1. You can click "Stop" at any time to pause the process

  1. When complete, click "View report" to see a detailed log of what happened

Understanding Warnings and Alerts

60-Day Policy Warning

If you're deleting items less than 60 days old, you'll see this warning:

⚠️ Policy Notice: X of your selected items are less than 60 days old. Removing many young listings may trigger Poshmark's removal policy restrictions.

What to do:

"All Items Selected" Warning

If you select every item in a duplicate group, you'll see:

⚠️ Warning: You have selected all items in this group. This will delete the entire listing from your closet. Please keep at least one item.

What to do:

  • Uncheck at least one item (we recommend keeping the newest one)
  • This ensures you maintain one listing for that product

Freshness Warning

If your duplicate search results are more than 3 hours old, you'll see:

⚠️ These results may be outdated (Found X hours ago)

What to do:

  • Click "Refresh Duplicates" to search again
  • This ensures you're working with current data

Tips and Best Practices

For Finding Duplicates

  1. Run searches regularly - Check for duplicates weekly or monthly to keep your closet clean
  2. Keep the newest listing - Newer listings generally get better visibility in Poshmark search results
  3. Check likes and engagement - Sometimes an older listing has more likes; you might want to keep that one instead
  4. Review before deleting - Always look through the duplicate groups carefully before taking action

For Deleting Items

  1. Be mindful of item age - Items under 60 days old should be deleted carefully
  2. Use "Not For Sale" as an alternative - This is safer than deletion and keeps your closet history intact
  3. Keep records - Use "Export to CSV" before deleting to have a backup
  4. Start small - If you have many duplicates, delete them in batches rather than all at once

For Managing Your Closet

  1. Avoid creating duplicates - Be careful when listing new items to avoid creating duplicates in the first place
  2. Use the selection tools - Take advantage of the checkboxes and selection features to work efficiently
  3. Check the activity log - After processing, review the report to see what happened
  4. Clear old results - Click "Clear results" when you're done to start fresh next time

Common Questions (FAQ)

Q: How does the system find duplicates?

A: The system compares your listings based on title, brand, category, description, and size. Items that match these criteria are grouped together as potential duplicates.

Q: Can I undo a deletion?

A: No, deletions are permanent. Once an item is deleted from Poshmark, it cannot be recovered. That's why we recommend:

  • Using "Mark as Not For Sale" instead if you're unsure
  • Exporting to CSV first to keep records
  • Reviewing your selections carefully before clicking Start

Q: Why can't I select items from my closet?

A: Make sure you're on the Poshmark closet page in another browser tab. The extension needs to be able to access your open Poshmark page to see which items you've selected. You may see this alert:

You haven't selected any items yet. Please select items from your closet page first.

Solution: Open poshmark.com/closet in another tab, select items there, then return to the extension.

Q: What if the duplicate search takes too long?

A: The search can take a moment, especially if you have a large closet. If it takes more than 2 minutes, the system will timeout and you'll need to try again. Try:

  • Refreshing the extension
  • Reloading your Poshmark closet page
  • Trying again in a few minutes

Q: How do I know when the process is finished?

A: You'll see the progress bar reach 100%, and the alert will change from "Process in progress..." to "Process completed!" You can then click "View report" to see detailed results.

Q: What does "Raise Price 2X" actually do?

A: It multiplies the current price by 2. For example:

  • $10 becomes $20
  • $25 becomes $50
  • $100 becomes $200

This is useful when you want to keep items listed but make them less likely to sell.

Q: Is there a limit to how many items I can delete at once?

A: While there's no hard limit in the tool, Poshmark's policies discourage deleting many items at once, especially newer items. We recommend:

  • Deleting no more than 20-30 items at a time
  • Being extra careful with items under 60 days old
  • Using "Mark as Not For Sale" for larger batches

Safety Reminders

  • Paid feature - This feature is only available for paid PosherVA subscribers
  • Permanent deletion - Deleted items cannot be recovered
  • Poshmark policies - Follow Poshmark's policies about listing removal to avoid account restrictions
  • Review carefully - Always double-check your selections before clicking Start
  • Keep one copy - Never delete all copies of a duplicate group unless you truly want to remove that product entirely
